A hand is a surprisingly good little drawing surface because the fingers, knuckles and back of the hand already give you a composition to work with. Tiny stars can run across the knuckles, a vine can follow the side of a finger, or one continuous line can curve around the thumb and back toward the wrist.
If you only want ideas, sketch them on paper first. It is much easier to test size and spacing there before trying the design on your hand.

Use the shape of the hand
Small designs usually look better when they follow the hand instead of sitting in the middle like a sticker. A vine can run beside a finger, stars can step across the knuckles, and a wave or flame can curve around the base of the thumb. If the idea has several parts, leave a little empty space between them so the drawing does not turn into one dark patch.
Try one-line and geometric designs
One-line faces, tiny animals and abstract loops work especially well because they do not need much room. Geometric designs can be built from triangles, dots, circles and short parallel lines. Start with two or three repeated shapes; adding more is easier than trying to simplify an overcrowded design.
If you draw directly on skin
Use a product specifically labeled for cosmetic or body use rather than an ordinary permanent marker or office pen. Test a small area first, avoid broken or irritated skin, and wash the design off if the skin becomes uncomfortable. If you only want to explore the idea, drawing it on paper first is the simplest option.

i draw on my hands a lot, like whenever i get bored, i always have pens with me, but i usually just scribble random stuff, no ideas. so this is really helpful.
but really, is all the gender specific stuff necessary? being a trans male, i feel like it’s not.
